A Look Back: Omega Sparx writes for KOF Allstar x Street Fighter V

In April 2022, Netmarble, the producer of the critically successful mobile game The King of Fighters Allstar contracted VGM songwriter Omega Sparx to create music for their promotional crossover with Street Fighter V. This marked a significant moment in gaming history as characters from two of the largest fighting game franchises would be playable in one game. The last time gamers got to enjoy pitting Ryu from the Street Fighter series against The King of Fighters‘ Kyo Kusanagi dates all the way back to the early 2000s with the Capcom VS SNK series and SNK VS Capcom: SVC Chaos.
Omega Sparx collaborated with the electrifying lyricist SWATS and the guitar savant AlexV to produce a powerful track titled ‘Shatter’ to commemorate the battle between the two video game giants. Like the multiple disciplines of martial arts displayed in The King of Fighters Allstar and Street Fighter V, ‘Shatter’ is a testament to the creative potential of combining different musical styles to form new forms of art.
